Flash – HA Support of Immediate Auth. SNF Checklist Fast Pass on Weekend

Health Alliance continues to support your immediate acute care authorization needs on the weekend with the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Checklist and Fast Pass Authorization process. The SNF Fast Pass has been available for use by our acute care facility providers since October of 2021 and has allowed acute inpatient facilities the ability to expedite their review of certain members to be admitted to a SNF. It is specifically designed to be used on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or on holidays, removing the need for the usual initial review and response from the health plan.

Members who do not meet criteria by using the SNF checklist may still qualify for admission to skilled nursing. The hospital care team can request review by the health plan through the standard process of prior authorization request by phone or fax on the next business day. Also, members who do not qualify for SNF placement are eligible for home healthcare services which do not require prior authorization for the majority of our plans.

Effective Saturday, June 3, 2023, the SNF Checklist and Fast Pass will be the primary method for authorization of skilled care needs on weekends and holidays.  Staff at acute care facilities with questions around the process may call the Health Alliance Concurrent Review Rotation line at 217-902-8949, or 1-800-851-3379, press 1 for the corporate directory, and 1 again to enter the rotation line phone number of 217-902-8949. Staff may leave their contact information for call back on Saturdays between 10am and 2pm CST.
